Friday: 10-1:
Well...we think it's slow.
Welcome to the softer side of UNMATA. We're switching the elixir from jet fuel to chamomile tea, and taking some time to smell the roses. This workshop features a selection of UNMATA's rarely seen slow repertoire, vinyasa-inspired warm-ups, and a chance to catch your breath.

Saturday: 10-1:
POW!erful Partnering
Do you play well with others? Or, maybe you prefer the whole sandbox to yourself? Either way, the key element to successful partnering is finding the common relation between people. This workshop features creative partnering ideas that will inspire trust and connection in duets or small groups.

Sunday: 10-1:
STATIC "An experimental workshop"
How do you handle the noise in your head when you encounter it in art and performance? Let's find out. This is an intimate look at the very beginnings of "Ghostwork." Learning to attack the insecurities and personal obstacles in your life that haunt you.

Ashley Lopez: Building Character

How does a dancer create a mood for their piece? How can we change character to fit the music? How can costuming affect the performance? What is stage fright and how do I deal with it? How can one small person fill a huge stage?

Building character is a delicate process that requires some experimentation for each individual. One must learn to take risks on stage, and getting there can be a challenge. Give life to your dance through musicality, intention, and conviction. Being a great performer requires not only great technique, but also incredible stage presence.

Putting together a performance can be a complex and overwhelming process. Every aspect deserves attention: from facial expression and characterization to picking the proper moves to fit the music and the color of the costume. In this workshop, we’ll do acting exercises to awaken your inner diva, practice posture and facial expression, discuss dealing with nerves, dancing musically, and the how to’s of picking music, choreographing, and costuming.

Gitane: "Roma: A Way of Life"

Romani/Gypsy Fusion is a collection of authentic Gypsy Dance one would find if traveling along the "Latcho Drom" or the “Gypsy Road". Gitane will be discussing the history and cultures of the Roma and the difference between the "romantic" and the "authentic" in Rom Dance.
